Candace Hunter is a Chicago based artist who creates collage, paintings, installations and performance art. Through the use of appropriated materials she tells stories that are often steeped in history.
During the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, she began a series of whimsical Brown Limbed Girls collages of women enjoying their lives. Two of these works were used on Chicago billboards to spread COVID awareness.
A highly respected artist in the Midwest, Hunter has won the prestigious 3Arts Next Level Award with an unrestricted cash grant of $50,000. This award is given to three Chicago artists at critical junctures in their careers.
